Facebook Fan-page and Troll Reviews
Facebook has long been touted as the king of Social Media when it comes to getting your business/brand out there.
Come to Facebook they say, build a fan-page they say, share your business brand to the world they say, yeah right!
Look there is no doubt having your business showcased on a Facebook Fan-page can be beneficial to your brand, as long as you know what the hell you are doing. I can tell you from my own experience it is not that simple. Yes it use to be, but not so much any-more.
You see over time the members on Facebook grew and so did the fan-pages, which means less and less exposure for your brand on Facebook as you are now competing in a savvy marketing arena. So to be even slightly successful you will need to be a little bit savvy in your marketing knowledge and how it applies to your business brand Fan-page on Facebook.
Today I am not going into the logistics of being successful with your business Fan-page on Facebook.
Today I would like to help you with one of the most common complaints for owners of Fan-pages and how to solve this problem.
Fan-page Reviews – False/Troll Reviews and how to Remove them.
How do I stop letting people post ratings and reviews on my Page?
- Click About below your Page’s cover photo.
- Click Page Info in the left column.
- Hover over the Address section and click Edit.
- Click to un-check the box next to Show map, check-ins and star ratings on the Page.
- Click Save Changes

This is to date the only way you have of dealing with a troll who has landed on your Facebook Fan-page and is trolling the hell out of you in the reviews section of your page. You will need to switch it off whilst you converse with Facebook to have the matter permanently resolved.
Now I know a lot of people will tell you to block this person from your page and if this action worked the way we would like it to it would be a good solution. The problem with doing this is you will no longer be able to see any future troll reviews they make and it doesn’t stop them from starting 5 or 6 fake profiles and hitting you even harder.
From my experience with Facebook Fan-pages the review section of the page doesn’t really help your page get seen or noticed and has no bearing on your fans, so I am of the opinion it is best left off your page which gives your Fan-page a cleaner look and feel and is one less thing for your fans to be confused by.
Remember at the end of the day it is all about what you can do for your fans more than what they can do for you. So I am going to say it
“in my opinion, it comes down to content and the old adage content is king”
If having a review page is important to you then build it on your website so you have control over it and can moderate all reviews. This will stop troll reviews and plain slander and untruths being displayed publicly on your Facebook Fan-page.
